01

Use the same request

Give shortlisted providers the same amount, purpose, drawdown date and term.

02

Ask for the schedule

Request every dated payment, net proceeds after fees, default pricing and settlement figures.

03

What the comparison score can and cannot tell you

The editorial score rewards clear public information, useful product coverage, accessibility, cost disclosure and specialist fit. It is not a customer rating, an approval probability or a prediction of the lowest offer. A lender with a smaller score may still produce the best structure for a particular invoice, machine or property.

Shortlisting should reduce wasted applications. It should not encourage a company to submit the same file everywhere. Formal credit searches, inconsistent requested amounts and unexplained rejections can create more questions for the next lender.

04

Normalise every written offer

Ask each provider to quote the same net proceeds and term. Record the cash received on day one, every repayment date, reference rate, margin, guarantee fee, origination charge, legal cost, valuation cost, insurance requirement and settlement amount after month twelve.

Monthly payment alone is a poor ranking measure. A longer term lowers the instalment while increasing total interest and extending the life of guarantees. A revolving line can charge only on drawn funds, though annual review and cancellation rights may make it unsuitable for permanent investment.

  • What cash reaches the company after every fee and deduction?
  • Which reference rate, margin, floor and reset date control the interest charge?
  • What happens to guarantees, security and fees after early settlement?
Decision note

Rates, limits and eligibility can change. Ask for a current written quote, repayment schedule and agreement. General information only.
