Who StarFund Adviser may suit
Traditional-Chinese users researching government grants with some SFGS support. BUD, technology and logistics grants, plus SFGS application support.
The useful service is the work performed before an application reaches a lender: choosing a plausible route, finding missing evidence and presenting the business consistently. An adviser cannot replace the lender's underwriting or guarantee approval.

- Operating since 2014
- BUD and technology-funding support
- SFGS application assistance
- Case studies published on its site
What is useful
- Broad coverage of government funding routes
- Chinese-language material for local SMEs
- Published service categories and case-study area
Gaps to resolve
- Loan-broker detail is thinner than the grant material
- No full public fee table was found
- Some programme descriptions require a fresh official-source check before relying on them
Fees and incentives
The public pages explain service categories but not a complete fee schedule for SFGS work.
Request one engagement letter showing the legal service provider, work included, fixed and success fees, tax, payment trigger, cancellation terms and treatment of repeat applications. If the borrower pays nothing, ask which providers pay the consultant and whether that compensation differs by lender.
How the stated process works
- Initial consultation
- Relevant programme selected
- Application work and follow-up agreed
Confirm the handoff point between advice and a formal lender application. The borrower should know the named recipient, required documents and credit-search position before consenting to disclosure.
Hong Kong legal and safety checks
For a bank application, contact the authorised institution through an official channel and confirm that it accepts the proposed route. HKMA material says banks ceased accepting loan applications referred by intermediaries.
For a licensed money-lender loan, search the contracting entity's licence and check any intermediary in the Companies Registry appointed-third-party register. Public guidance warns borrowers not to pay an intermediary for arranging such a loan.
- Do not send money to a personal account.
- Do not share online-banking passwords or one-time codes.
- Do not sign blank forms or install remote-access software.
- Keep a record of every recipient and consent.
Editorial verdict
This profile belongs in the adviser section because SFGS is only one part of the offer. A company seeking a bank facility should ask for the named bank process; a company seeking a grant needs a separate scope tied to eligible project costs.
The score measures public role disclosure, service clarity, fee transparency, verifiable identity and practical usefulness. It is not a customer-review average and does not predict a successful application.
